Unable to apply ESU JK16780 to any pathcode?

Hi,

Here's a description of our current installation :

E812 Tools 8.98.0.4
Deployment W2003 SP2
Local Deployment Database SQL Server Express
C Compiler Visual Studio .NET 2005 SP1
Enterprise iSeries 6.1 (AS/400 V6R1)

I downloaded ESU JK16780 and installed it (decompress it)
with no trouble at all.

I could follow all of the special instructions until
the moment I have to apply the ESU at all my pathcodes.

I started with PS812, and the process crashes right before
launching the Menu Merge, with an error message like it
can't find database JK16780.

However, the ODBC entry (EnterpriseOne Local) is there,
I can connect to the database from Control Panel -
Administrative Tools - ODBC, I can query it with any
account (sa, Local Administrator, JDE, etc) from
SQL Management Studio Express or any other tool.

I ran the instcat.sql query against the local SSE database
too. No positive results so far.

At a given moment, I thought these errors may come from
my RDP connection, but I got exactly the same messages
when trying to apply the ESU from Deployment console.

So, any of you had a successful install of ESU JK16780
on E812 Tools 8.98.04?

I'm also pretty curious to know if you, guys, use
SSE or MSDE as your local Deployment database?

Which one would you recommend for Tools 8.98.0.4?
Any hints, tricks, positive or negative comments?

More than likely the ESU came shipped with no specs.

This has been occurring quite a lot recently. Check the ESU for specs and also try to redownload the ESU incase the issue has been corrected.

I've only had this issue in the last 2 months but on several ESU's.

I recently had an issue with this ESU about a month ago. It should have only applied a few objects because we were current with the superceeded releases, but it applied almost all the objects included, basically overlaying the existing code with the exact code.
