Search Type Security

A fairly recent internal audit found that there is "excessive access to the address book and vendor master file within JDE." Since then, we have upgraded to A9.1 (from A7.2) and can now utilize search type security. We need to assess capabilities of the functionality and identify the impact that it will have on the various business processes. The documentation seems relatively straight-forward. I'm reaching out to you to see what kind of gotcha's aren't in the documentation.

The impact you will find is with ANY file where search type is used. This will range not only on the most common Address Book program but also other files such as Payroll, Sales Order Entry, Shipping, Purchase Order Entry, Receiving, etc

It is really a simple and straight forward process. Any file where the Address Number is utilized can be further secured with the Search Type connected to that record in the AB file.

We meet this quite a lot, and it works without problem - with its limitations. What we are sometimes called to do is to audit the actual table
