Sales Order Header Purge?

We have our sales orders set to archive to the history files every night
after sales update, so that our invoiced sales can all run from the
history files (F42101, F42119).
There are a large number of Sales Order Headers still in F4201 without
detail lines in F4211, however there is no header in F42019 but all the
detail lines are in F42119.
A fine mess..... not sure how it happened but until recently all they
cared about archiving was invoiced orders - cancelled lines etc got left
behind.

Is there any easy way to get these order headers across from F4201 to
F42019, without having to identify them and manually select them?
I know I can write a Query to identify all order headers without detail
lnes and manually enter all those order numbers to move them across, but
is there an archiving program in World that might help with this?

We are using A7.3 cum 15.

Thanks in advance.

We wrote a program to search for header records with no detail which then purges the
records.

Re: RE: Sales Order Header Purge?

Hi Teri,
That's what I was going to do if there was no other solution - I was hoping to avoid the effort but at least it's a simple program.
Thanks.

Re: RE: Sales Order Header Purge?

Ditto what Teri said. I too just wrote a quickie to keep things cleaned up. Seems silly JDE doesn't have something...

There is Standard Sales Order Header Purge Program P4201P on Menu G42312.. The Help Text says

"Running the Sales Order Header Purge

Use the Sales Order Header purge to purge sales order header records
from the Sales Order Header file. Records are purged from the Sales
Order Header file only if no open detail lines with a matching order
type and order number combination exist in the Sales Order Detail
file. In addition to purging records, you can optionally move
information to the Sales Order Header History file. You specify in
the processing options whether you want to move information.

What You Should Know About

Purging header information during sales update

You can purge sales order header information from the Sales Order
Header file and move it to the Sales Order Header History file
during sales update."

Have you not tried this, or am I missing something?

Hi Gareth,
Having checked it doesn't look like that was ever run - and I guess I had forgotten about it as well - some of the file purges etc are not too easy to find...
Will check it out - at least it should purge any held orders also, not that we generally have that issue...
Thanks for your help.

Hi Tony....

JDE provide lots of Purge programs most can be found using the Hidden Selection 27 from the appropriate System menu.... e.g. G42 for Sales, G43 Purchasing.... etc.....

There are special Programs (like the one for Sales Order Header), but the majority use P00PURGE, (which some people pronounce Pooh Purge, because unless you get the Data Selection right, can get you in quite a mess.......!!!!!)

Its well worth thoroughly testing the Purge, before you run in Production.....

Gareth
