We currently have a dual processor PII@400, 640MB, 90GB, Win NT, SQL7
Deployment Server. It's due to be replaced soon.
We are already above the MTR docs (Pentium 233, 256MB). Free space is
abut 30GB. We have already decided to keep the
minimum of what we had but wanted to know any advantages of having dual
processors and if having memory beyond a certain
points helps any with building packages since we build packages from
this PC. Thanks, Grant.

Grant,

RAM is always a good thing....apart from building packages when you apply any kind of update your deployment server will be working really hard and RAM will help. With a Dual processor you will be able to build 2 packages at the same time for different path codes and again when you do updates it will defiantly help a great deal. I think you should get more than a 30GB hard drive and depending on how much your company wants to spend why not go Xeon processor.

I guess I am techie so I like powerful toys. but apart from that you want a server that will be around for a while....I'll say spend as much as you company is willing to spend.
