Mrp setup for purchasing

Can you setup mrp so that it only plans materials around work orders for a number of planning periods and firm orders after.
Like you can set MPS to look at customer orders followed by forecast in the planning rule setup ???

Try creating a version of MRP with frozen master schedule. This will only look at work orders as the demand profile and not sales orders or forecast above the work order level.
