Hello,

JDK licensing is a bit confusing. Before we contact our sales rep does anyone know if we need to license JDK 1.8 for our JDE E1 servers in production? Would this also apply to PY and DV servers?

By servers I mean Enterprise, Deployment, Application Interface, HTML.

Hi,

For JDE servers (Deployment, Enterprise, and Development Machines use of Oracle JDK is covered by your JDE license.

https://docs.oracle.com/en/applicat...enses-included-with-jd-edwards.html#u10035537

Excerpt from the above link

Oracle Java SE is included with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne products and is intended only for use in conjunction with running JD Edwards EnterpriseOne applications. If you use Java SE Suite in any other way or if you use a different version of Java SE than that provided with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne products, your use of Java SE is subject to the terms set forth at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/documentation/index.html.

Additionally, on the Web servers (HTML, AIS, Server Manager, etc. the use of Oracle JDK is covered by the WebLogic license (Which you would either get through Oracle Technology Foundation for JD Edwards or by directly licensing WebLogic). I haven't been able to find an official Oracle document for this but here is a blog post.

Just remember that these are restricted-use licenses only for use with the Product they were distributed with (E1, WebLogic, etc). As always, consult with your Oracle sales rep for the official confirmation. If you do, please post here what they say.

Good Luck
