We have been informed that JDE is going to come on site to do a software license audit. Does anyone have any experience with this type of audit?

Thank you.

Go to the Job Information Screen (2/G943), and see if you have any
violations. It will the times Limit exceeded.

Good luck! Not much you can do, but prepare ...

Yep, just went through it a couple months ago. What would you like to know... If you are wondering what it will entail, they will be contacting you and wanting someone "technical" to apply a small software update off the KG. This adds a couple of files and a couple programs to the system. They then ask YOU to tag each of your users as Named, Moderate, or Concurrent. Good luck on that one if you are anything like us... A person shows up and just needs access to your environment(s) via a JDEREVIEW login that have you setup. They will run a bunch of jobs that gather the "magic audit information" and then they disappear. Don't bother asking them "how or what" they are gathering because I still can't see (at least in our case) how they could accurately audit the user info out of a variety of their files and get a clear picture of who is each of the 3 flavors of users.

As expected, they came back and said we had to buy a bunch more licenses (even though we originally bought what they told us to in terms of the mix of the 3 flavors). We are in compliance with the license mgr. as well. In the end, we had to buy some more licenses (not the large figure they told us) anyway because of a company merger and so they called it good enough.

My boss about lost a gasket over the whole thing because to us it just looks like a way to generate more money for them even though we have done everything according to their book. Especially since we had been a customer of JDE LONG before user based licensing...
