Hi List,
I am to do a new setup on as I series V5R3M0 as my ES. Could anyone help me with the procedure to find if my database is DB2400 or DB2 UDB.

Thanks in advance

The Iseries machine always comes with integrated database DB2/AS400.
DB2 UDB is the database that comes seprately and can be configured with JDE as we configure ORACLE and SQL Server.

DB2 UDB can be configured with Windows/Unix OS also.

So for V5R3M0 it is DB2/400.

Best of Luck

Joel,

If your database is ON the V5R3 box (you may have to rename it as the server name before you start anything), i.e. the iSeries is not just a logic Enterprise server for a database sitting somewehere else (Unix, Windows), then your database is DB2400. Every 400 has a database as part of the OS, but it doesn't mean you are using it in your architechture.
The confusion comes from the fact that DB2 UDB is a generic branding/marketing term that, in theory, includes the 400 version, but in practice is used by techies only when a very different standalone DB2 product is installed on Windows or Unix.
To make things clear, the original iSeries built-in database is clled DB2/400.

The AS/400 database is Db2/400. You can load the DB2/UDB onto the IFS folder structure, but is more an intel-based db as was stated earlier.
