FW: Special Forms

Hi All!

I am wondering if anyone is willing to share their experiences with any of
the forms software that is available to print special forms like A/P or
payroll checks on laser printers. I know of four products that will do
this: Create!Form, Elite document solutions, Formscape, and Optio.

Please share your feelings and/or experiences (good and bad!) with these or
any other products that you are familiar with. In case it matters, we are
running World A7.3 cume 11.

Thanks very much in advance!

RE: Special Forms

Hi Suni,

We currently use Create!Form for our special designed forms. It is working
out wonderful for us. We currently are printing Purchase Orders (duplexed),
Invoices, Acknowledgements and we were using it for A/P and Payroll checks.
It is easy to use and learn. We also have their package to email and fax
forms to people.......we currently are faxing PO's to vendors and emailing
some Invoices.

I hope this helps you.

This question comes up regularly on the forum so also check the archives. We use Create!Form and it works good for us. Didn't really get to see any of the other products similar so can't compare it others better/worse.

Suni,

Have you looked into Ezprint? We are using it with A7.3 Cume 10 and
it works pretty well for us.

Suni,
Our company uses a product from Bottomline Technologies for both our A/P and Payroll checks. Overall, we have not been satisfied with the product and service received. Making changes has always been problematic, and the changes we request take a long time for them to turn around (usually over 3 months, at times over a year). We are in the process of upgrading from their "Paybase 16" to their "Paybase 32" product, so we haven't had enough time yet to see if there is any improvement. If the cost and effort to seek a new vendor weren't so great, we probably would have tried that...

We use JetForms and I have been fairly happy with it. I wish I had known
some of what I know now when I started...... would have been a whole lot
easier!!

We use CreatePrint to print payroll checks, sales invoices and a number of
other documents on laser stationery.
Very easy to configure, very sophisticated advanced formatting functions,
definitely recommended.
We use both MICR fonts on checks as well as barcodes on other documents -
all without problems.

We have used JetForms for everything from checks to invoices and PO's. while there was a definate learning curve, I do all the design for our forms, so there is no time lag. There are new features coming out constantly to make it easier. Now we use it so much, is hard to go back and upgrade to the things that would make it easier!!

Suni

We used a product called Formation MG at a former company of mine. It
worked rather well once it was setup right. It wasn't a JDE shop, but I
really don't think that makes a difference.

RE: Special Forms

I have been using Create!Form for over ten years and am very pleased with
the product and service levels.

You will need to make sure that your spool files have the same information
printed on the same location (same line and space number) every time. We
had make a small customization to the sales order invoice print program to
print the last total line always on the same line number.

We've been using EZPrint 400 from ACOM and haven't had any problems with
it. I have desinged and set up 7 forms (2 AP cheques, A 3 part PO, A/P
Overflow statement, A/P Debit Statement, A/R Statement, A/R Invoice) to
date. I found the product fairly easy to use.

RE: Special Forms

We are using Create!Forms for: Payroll & payables cheques, Bills of
Ladings, Invoices, Misc & Credit memos, POs, W2s, 1099s, T4s, plus we've
used the product for custom mods for Analytical testing forms, multi
designed forms for our lab programs, detailed process instructions for
batches. It's a great product, easy to use, does almost anything you want
it to. A lot of our forms are designed to meet both US and Canadian
requirements. Customer Service is great... From a very satisfied user....

Hi Suni,

This has been brought up in the One World list many times, the posts revolve around people's personal preference. Let us remember that JDE has three partners in this area, Accelio (JetForm), Create!Form and Optio, all of these products can do the job for you.

I have used both Jetform and Create!Form and found that while each have different methods the end results are about the same. In my experience the level of training and support you can get from the supplier or consultant, is of far greater important than the individual product differences.

My suggestion, get all three product suppliers to come and meet with you, see if you can get then to do some work on one of your forms. By this process you should get a much better impression of what it will be like to deal with them on an ongoing basis.

Suni,

The response from RCRAWF gets my full vote of confidence and support. I
know Rachel has had some good experience in this area.

Good one Rachel.

We have used create!form for 6 years and it has performed very well for us. We print payroll and A/P checks with it and are moving now to also print invoices. We have tried Bottomline Technologies Paybase product but had problems with losing forms in printer memory even though the printer had gobs of it. The technical support people at Bottomline were not very helpful. I would definitely recommend create!form though.

We have been using Create!Form successfully for a number of years. It's easy to set up and requires little maintenance once you've got it working.

I would definitely recommend you look at this product to see if it is for you.

Steve.

Thanks to everyone for your input. It seems that Create!Form is the reigning favorite. Of course, Rachel Crawford had the definitive suggestion: "My suggestion, get all three product suppliers to come and meet with you, see if you can get then to do some work on one of your forms. By this process you should get a much better impression of what it will be like to deal with them on an ongoing basis." And this, is of course, what we have done in the past and what we will do this time.

For the record, I did do my research prior to posting my request, but found only one thread in the WORLD jde list archives. It was also mentioned that this has come up several times in the OneWorld jdelist, but since we're a World shop I did not search its archives, and the ONeWorld list is so voluminous, I do not subscribe to it.

Thanks again for taking the time to respond! It has given me an idea as to what is being used and what appears to be working well / not so well.

We use Optio software. The software works great. However, when I've had problems, Optio has some weird connected consulting group and if Optio's techs cannot solve the problem immediately, they push the problem to this consultant group that charges extra.
