Excel uploads to World

Good day everyone,

Has anyone used Solidworks (CAD type system) in combination with JDE World or OneWorld?

I'm investigating the possibility of uploading data from Solidworks which outputs to an Excel spreadsheet as a bill of material. What I'm aiming for is an automatic populating function to the Item Master. Let me correct myself.....as automatic as possible with as little operator intervention as possible.

Regards

Richard,

I have a product called ODBCFace that has been designed specifically to
upload / download information between Excel and a datasource. We're using
extensively with World Software via Client Access ODBC drivers.

Typically we are using it with the Z1 processes for upload to JDE but it
seems to me there is not a batch process for the item master (I could be
wrong). If this is true, you'll be uploading directly to the Item Master
file and will have to assign new short item numbers to each record uploaded.
ODBCFace also has the capability of getting the next numbers from JDE and
assigning to each item number.

This process could get significantly more complex if you are uploading
branch plant / lot / item cross reference / bom / cost info / etc..

Please email me directly if you require more specific information..

Re: RE: Excel uploads to World

Brian,

Thanks for your response. We've since decided that the software in question (SolidWorks)is not practical for our manufacturing application. We are however pursuing the dowloading issues. As far as I'm aware, we are currently downloading to the Item Master, Routing and BoM.
I'll keep in mind the solution that you use (OBDCFace)and talk it up with our CNC people.
