Changing DD Item Size

Dear list,

I would like to change the size of the field ITEM (ItemNumber for AAI's) in the data dictionary from 6 to 7. Do you think that this changes could have an impact in the system?

Yes
They may cause severe problems with any BSFN that uses values from this field... e.g. memory violation.
Plus you would have to re-generate a couple of tables.

From my experience, changing anything about a DD item, size, description, anything, could cause serious problems.
Think of it as having a house of cards 10 levels high, and trying to switch out a card at the foundation.
I would look for a different solution.
