Business Unit Security using *public

It has been ages since I setup BU security. Currently there is none at my client who is on A7.3 cume 7. I have had no trouble setting up what certain users need but I am unable to add:
*PUBLIC

1 999

It seems the error message is telling me I may not have authority to *public. I can add *public for action code security. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Found the issue:

*PUBLIC was never set up as a group profile.

I don’t think you can exclude one profile from doing something to another profile per-se in JDE just secure them from doing things in JDE. Have they done any site specific mods? What’s the message say exactly and what’s its id.

yes, for some reason, JDE needs *PUBLIC to be defined. We have found this too.
