It sounds like you may have been one of the initial brave souls to take on
OW!
It is true, things have changed since then. I would recommend perusing one
of the following manuals (like the programs, naming depends on the
release)...Package Management, OW Modifications and Deployment. There are
probably other variations on those themes. Any of them should refer to the
"Object Transfer" program which moves objects between pathcodes (ex. crp to
prod). Though I have heard of people out there using Promotion Manager, it
was not the preferred program pushed out of JDE. They preferred you use two
programs Object Librarian (to move the objects client to server and back)
and Object Transfer (to move objects between pathcodes). This allows for
the transfer to be more easily secured as an administrative function, but
the security in Object Librarian is of course open wide for checking into
production (gotta love that!)
That is why there is so little written on Promotion Manger. In fact, I'm
pretty sure that program was not really maintained that diligently by
development after the advent of Object Transfer.
