Last year I wrote a whole subsystem on this type of activity.
The main information was loaded into temporary working files and based on the F42119
We grouped data by different things, i.e customer/warehouse, item/warehouse,
Customer requested date vs actual delivey, did the order ever go on back order, (We tagged one of the user fields if it ever hit B/O). We had many sorts to have data visibilty. This was more for the warehouses to see how efficient they were and how well the orders where being completed. It even provided us with the top moving products by $$ and another by Movement.
The reports where run on a monthy basis and we grouped information by month and yearly with many different sorts.
Let me know if you would like more information. It was time consuming to get it going. But the results were amazing.

It's nothing fancy, I just want to know if a customer has been "buying from us" on a monthly basis. This can be a $ figure, or just that we did a transaction with them. Anything to show us a "pattern" for the customer. Any ideas before I start to write something either custom or otherwise?
