Voucher entry status change?

Hi

On P04105 we have set the default status to H (via XT0411Z1) but I can't find a way of stopping people changing the status to A when they enter a voucher.

Action code security can be used to stop them changing an already entered voucher.

Function Key security can be used to stop F2 being used but not F4.

Is there a way of stopping users changing the H to A ?

Many thanks

Neil

Are there any Oracle approved sharp sticks or do I have to sharpen my own?

Weeellll, if a gentle prod with a sharp stick is an uncomfortable idea
for you, then you could consider a fairly straightforward concept - 4lb
sledge hammer, short length of 1 inch anchor chain, or, for close up
work, a pair of knuckledusters!! Well so much for the old theory X
management style!!

Oracle doesn't supply sticks (sharpened or blunt), nor did PeopleSoft,
and, nor did JDE. It's all about system analysis, user education, and
trust within the corporate entity.

If you don't trust the users, then modify the voucher entry program.
Then again you could look at changing some data dictionary item
definitions etc (hold onto your hat, could be a wild ride).

Of course you could ask your HR department to upgrade the entry level
standards for employment.

Set some basic (and sensible and practical) rules, explain the rationale
for them and hope the users understand.

In essence what I am saying is that this issue is not really software
related but a corporate morale/morals and ethics. At some point you
have to have trust in the ability of the people you employ to do the
"right" thing. For these people to do the right ting they have to
understand the basic objectives you intend to achieve.

Regards,

Colin

Re: RE: Voucher entry status change?

Thank you for your words of wisdom Colin, you basically confirmed what I thought (and put it so much more eloquently), I had already told my client this but wasn't 100% sure that I hadn't missed something.
