Report Print Immediate

Hi JDEList,

I want to setup 'Print Immediate' on a specific UBE (or a version).
The only way I know to setup 'Print Immediate' is through jde.ini, but I cannot setup it for a version only.

Someone can help me ?
Thanks in advance.

Bub,

Welcome to the JDEList. Please be sure to include your system configuration information in your posts -- easiest to do by adding that information into your signature block under your JDEList user profile.

Regarding printing immediate, my experience has been that using the JDE.INI file setting will affect ALL UBE's that you run -- you cannot selectively force a print immediate for just a single UBE and/or version. The only way around this is to run the UBE from a batch scheduler (e.g. cron in Unix) using the runube command. This command gives you the ability to print a document directly to a printer.

This is true. PrintImmediate will affect all UBEs. There is another solution. You can set the UBE up as a subsystem job. This will only work for a limited number of UBEs ,as it takes up a queue, just sitting there waiting for a specific UBE to be submitted. However, if you just want to print 2 or 3 UBEs immediately, this can be a good solution.

I hope this helps.

There is also the possibility of executing that UBE/Version from within a custom Interactive Application, just by clicking a Menu(or Exit) button.
It really depends on what you want :)
YOu're very welcome,

PS Would you help me(by providing some more details) help you?

Michael, I tried to set up scheduler jobs to print immediately. The problem
is that in JDE you can only set up the job to print immediately once. There
is no way to have it do it automatically. I asked JDE about it but they
said that it was designed that way because the output won't be retained when
you do print immediate. I told them that 'I' wanted to be the one to make
that decision, not them and added my name to the SAR list to have this
changed. I had to set up my scheduler jobs to print immediately off of the
AS400 with RUNUBE jobs to run during the night. No way am I going to
babysit peoples scheduler jobs, I don't have the time...

I hope you get a good answer to your problem,

:)

Hey,

What SAR number is that Lori? That's one I know we'll be interested in.

Jeremy,

I can't remember the SAR right off hand. I think if you search you'll be
able to find it. Like most everyone else I surely didn't want everything to
print immediate either (the ini setting)...

If you find it please post it for everyone, I should have done that...
