Hi Guys,
Can any one help me out reagrding the upgradation documents . i don't need the pdf. I need the documents which u have prepared on your self which may explain me the things in step by step methods. I need those documents on urgent basis.

Hello,

First of all, you didn't mention the platform you were "upgradationing" on. Secondly, I don't know of anyone that has rewritten the "upgradation guides"(as you call them) for their own personal use. I do know that people keep track of the issues that they run into and the resoltuions for those issues, even Oracle has a nice common issues and resolution doc on the Knowledge Garden. My suggestion is that you, being a competent CNC that can complete an upgrade (you have done upgrades before, correct? As many on the site will attest, if you have not or have not been working with JDE for a while and are ready to attempt an upgrade on your own, your project is doomed to fail) download the .pdf and follow it, when you run into a specific issue, research it on the Knowledge Garden, if that doesn't help, open a case with Oracle AND post your specific issue here on the JDELIST. The fine people of the JDELIST will be more than willing to help you with a specific issue, however, asking for detailed step by step upgrade instructions is akin to someone calling tech support and saying "my pc is broke", it's a nebulous statement.

Hi PVD,

Don't be naive : nobody will share personal notes because
they're intellectual property and because they're not useful
from one project to another.

Every upgrade project is a scenario on its own and you
can only apply general guidelines from one project to
the other, which are all found on the Lovely JDE Manuals
downloadable from Oracle. Most of the tricks not found
on the manuals are the ones related to OS/DB admin and
tuning, but that's not strictly JDE stuff, it's rather
part of the DBA and SysAdmin skills.

If you don't know how to perform an E812 upgrade, there
are several possible ways to successfully achieve it :

#1. Get some JDE CNC upgrade training.
#2. Hire an experienced JDE CNC consultant.
#3. RTLM : Read The Lovely Manual

Here are my personal comments on these three choices :

#1. If you're a regular employee and your boss doesn't want
to pay for your training then he or she cares nothing
about your career and your client success, so you better
quit that job asap.

If you're an independent JDE consultant and you don't want
to pay for your own training then you're commiting career
suicide : sooner or later you'll be left stranded without
any client willing to pay for your services.

I know that JDE training is expensive, but even in
low-salary countries like the one I come from (Argentina)
it's worth to spend it : the money you paid for your
training is quickly recovered after a successful upgrade.

#2. If you don't have enough time or money to get trained,
then it may be wise to admit one's limitations and ask
for help. I'm sure there are plenty of senior JDE CNC
in your region that will be glad to be hired by you to
perform the upgrade. You'll earn part of their financial
profit and part of their experience.

If you feel insecure about your upgrade project and
have little or no experience in the JDE field, I strongly
suggest you to take this avenue and learn from them.

#3. In case you have a medium-level JDE CNC experience,
you feel confortable with the platform and you just need
to fill in some knowledge holes, then don't be lazy :
download the manuals and read them.
Since 2004, Oracle has worked a lot to improve its
documentation and they're far superior than they were 8 or
9 years ago.

Regards
