What requirements are there for me to Understand JDE?
Where can I start to understand JDE System?

To fully understand JDE ..i.e how it works, hangs, function will greatly help me in my JDE programming.

I am being thrown into JDE programming w/o any knowledge of JDE..

Any Help leading to further help would be appreciated...

Can you get the company to pay for a class? It would be very productive for
you to attend the Technical Foundations class taught by JDE.

You need to read the documentation on the JDE A7.3 CD-ROM. This information
is fairly old, but still relevant. It is very helpful in understanding the
concepts.

If you _don't_ have the CD-ROM, you can get it if you still have JDE
support. If not, send me a private email. I'll try to help you obtain a
copy.

1) Study the Common Foundation information to get more background
information on how JDE works, from an application perspective.

2) Under Technical, study all topics listed (Technical Foundation, CASE,
Advanced Programming Concepts, and World Writer)

3) Study the application-specific information for the modules that you are
using (Financials, Distribution, Manufacturing, etc.)

4) Also, Find a local user group so you can meet others that can help you.

Steve is right on all assessments. The one piece of advice is definately
get with someone. What we have all learned is that if you know the 400 and
RPG and never have seen JDE before, you WILL get frustrated. (for example,
JDE has NO decimals!).

Fun things like that.
