It's been a long time since I used the old (non-advanced pricing, but the
contract pricing feature is actually very functional.

You need to use the short item number (8 digit numeric) when setting up the
contract price rule. You can also setup the maximum cumulative quantity for
the contract. When you enter sales orders, if an order line exceeds the
quantity remaining, the line will be split, part with the contract price,
and part with the regular price.
