Cross Dock fields in Sales Order Entry (8.12)

We have a client where we want to refer to the "supplying" order and have thought we could use the Cross Dock fields (order number, line, and type) to track the order.

We have found that process is fine, as long as the user is VERY careful in creating the information.

There is no recourse to correction, nor changes once they create the order information. The fields grey out and do not allow change, and if the price or something on that line gets changed, the fields are blanked out.

We have tested both the P4210 and P42101 and both give us the same result.

We have NOT modded the Sales order entry program (nor do we want to)

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Client Release : E1 8.12

I'm doing some work with Cross Docking now. We have some mods to force all cross docked sales orders to update Future Commit, which means these will have no impact on availability, thus reducing number of back orders.
Have you looked at Cross Dock Workbench, which is part of WArehouse Management ( for some reason).
Application is P4614, which displays all specified inbound and outbound order lines - uses same selection and caching functions as Supply/Demand Inquiry. Inbound order can be entered for a sales order line to setup the cross dock, and the sales line can be modified.

Thanks for the update .. we found a solution updating the Cross Dock in the item master and branch plant and the fields open up and stay editable (is that a word?) forever (which is what we desired).

We had tried this earlier on another set of data, but had found an issue with our conversion (lesson learned).

Thanks again !
