Multi-Currency Environment

Initially our system was setup as USD only. Now we are looking at adding an offshores sister company to our iSeries, and are really at a loss as to dealing with the issue of multi-currency. Step 1 of conversion to multi currency led to massive changes within our own Companies/Business Units (order entry, purchase order entry, ship confirm, etc.) so we stopped the conversion and put everything back.

The option of creating a new environment for offshore operations only has been looked at, but I am unsure of where to start that process. And what other problems will that create for us? (besides the obvious disk space usage?) We currently have test and production environments, and would just like to add a third. Is this the best solution, since it appears that multi-currency setup will affect all Companies within our production environment?

Our company wants to avoid use of a consultant ($$) wherever possible, however, we may need to get help regardless.

Anne, I can't claim it is the best way, but when we went multi-currency we did set up another data library for the European business. We used a consultant, but as much for helping us through the EC accounting and tarfiffs rules as for the technical. Europe, in their envirnoment, does multi-currecncy, they sell in euros, dollars and i believe GBP, so when set up it does work. I know this isn't enough info for you. We did need to modify much of the distribution to account for both currency and EC formats for invoices etc, i don't think that can be avoided.
