E9.2 Posting this again - Is anyone capturing electronic signature on Bills of Lading? What software are you using? How are you storing signed docs?

Hi, Currently, we print BOL through delivery documents. Documents are manually signed and then scanned into our system. Was wondering if anyone has found a way to capture an electronic signatures on JDE BOL and then print and store.
Thanks in advance

I know that there are JDE solution vendors out there that are selling their solution for something similar to what you ask. It's a very good question to bring to conference.

The questions you're asking involve a number of disciplines. I'd love to hear if anyone here has figured it out from a customer standpoint. I have thoughts, such as that DocuSign's API is really incredibly strong and makes many things possible when coupled with integration middleware like Orchestrator. But I don't want to pitch you anything I haven't yet figured out for myself.

Depends on your definition of electronic signature. If all you really need is images of of a employee’s signature inserted (based on the shipping clerk’s employee number or signature) then BIP plus a small mod to the BOL ube would do the job.

We need the carrier's signature on the BOL.

There are several typical signature that are part of a bill of lading, the carrier rep / driver signs for the goods but also if there is a haz material on the bill of lading, the authorized representative for the shipper also typically needs to sign.

as long as you don't to prove the signature chain electronically its still a relatively easy step for BIP.

Like Dave mentioned there are third-party solutions that can accomplish this. When you say electronic signature there are three options that come to mind (there may be more)
1 - JDE Electronic Signature Feature - You can turn this on at the application level and it requires the user to enter their password before they can save a transaction on that form - Not sure if this will apply well to your use case
2- Digital Signature Integration - integrate with a digital signature platform like DocuSign, capture the digital signature, and have that on the BI Publisher output
3 - Capture signature using a Mobile Device like a tablet or SmartPhone - User hand signs on a screen which then gets saved as an image and attached as a media object to the specific transaction record and the same can be retrieved and displayed on the BI Publisher output if required.

Thank you. I'm looking further into option 2 and 3. I'm having trouble getting the media object to print in BI Publisher. I don't have the best test because I don't currently have a signature pad but I tried testing by using draw feature in outlook to save image of signature and put that in my text file attachment. Not sure if I'm even comparing apples to apples but it doesn't format the image. Here is what prints in the source file ( I deleted a lot of the characters here for space reasons)
<Signature_ID8><img src="data:image/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAAN0AAAB2C=" alt=""/></Signature_ID8>

We offer MO Viewer++ to capture manual signatures and EverMOPrint to print them, or insert them into existing PDF's.

Hi Dave,
This is a functionality we are looking to add to our JDE as well... do you happen to have any documentation on it?
Thanks,
Steve
