Naming Convention Confusion

Hi List

Pls forgive my ignorance, but can someone tell me the meaning of letters A, B & E in A 9.1, B7333, E 8.12 in various JDE versions? Please clear this naming convention confusion of mine.

Thanks

JDE's earliest product is called World and its releases start with A (ie
A9.1). World is written in RPG and runs on the AS400 platform.

In the late 90's, JDE released a new client/server version of their
product and called it OneWorld. OneWorld has its own development
environment and everything gets converted to C in the background and it
runs on multiple platforms. The OneWorld releases started out being
numbered like B7331, B7332, B7333, B7334. Somewhere around B7333, they
called the release Xe. Xe was followed by 8.0.

A couple years ago PeopleSoft bought JDE and changed the name of
OneWorld to EnterpriseOne. This was about the time either 8.9 or 8.10
was released. You can probably find the exact releases somewhere on
Oracle's web site. When you see the E, I don't think is actually part of
the release, but is just short hand for EnterpriseOne.

Re: RE: Naming Convention Confusion

Hi Ellen

Thanks for clearing my confusion. I have a question about the Tool Release. I read somewhere the term Service Pack (SP) now replaces the term Tool Release 8.96. Is this correct?

Also pls let me know what are the Tool Release numbers for various version.

Thanks

RE: RE: Naming Convention Confusion

Yes, I believe Oracle has changed some of the terminology regarding
Functional Updates (the software end users use) and Tools Updates (the
software developers/cnc use).

Sorry, I don't keep that much detail in my head. If you want more detail
about the different releases of JDE, try doing some searches on the
Oracle customer connection. You probably want to look for some of the
Road Map documentation.

As of my knowledge B7333 means
B-Build number
73-Stand for relase number
3-Version
3-Modification
