Does anyone have any insight on how to handle the sale of inventory cut
into variable (customer specified) lengths? Obviously, I am trying to
avoid having to set up a unique item number for every possible length (1' -
1000') of every SKU (several thousands). Additionally, fittings (many
possible SKU's and also customer specified) are attached to the ends of the
cut material and must be part of the sale. Optimally, this would all
happen as part of only one sales order detail line. It seems to me that
simple manufacturing would require a unique part number, and that using
kits runs into the same problem.
The other complexity is that the orders are not being manually entered, but
are being interfaced into JDE.
The problem seems to require two quantity fields (one for qty. and one for
length). Can JDE handle this?
