'Core Charges'

\'Core Charges\'

Hello all,

Got an issue that I hope someone in the automotive industry may have run into that is somewhat of a baffling nature... We have a need to purchase an item we will call a starter for this example and when we buy this starter, we also have to purchase a core charge which in itself is not really an item until the starter is returned to the supplier or returned from one of our stores. We are selling/transfering this starter to our stores with the core charge and we sell the starter and a core charge nationally as well. We do not want to have to enter two lines for each order as mistakes will happen and it will not be added either at the purchase side or on the sales side, we need to see both the starter and the core charge as lines on the PO, SO, and ST/OT, we want to make this as 'idiot or mistake proof' as possible...I would welcome anyones feedback or suggestions on this issue!

Thanks
Dan

Have you explored using 'Kits'?

Re: \'Core Charges\'

Dan,

Set the starter, engine, battery up as a kit with a
required component 'core charge'. This way both will
appear on the order for sales and purchasing. The one
downside to this is there is a one to one
relationship, one battery to one core charge. You may
need separate core charges if indivudual tracking and
pricing is needed.
