Sales Update w/Vertex

Good Morning! I am trying to run vertex againist a sales order with one item shipped and a ship line. This ship line is set up in vertex tax decision maker as non-taxable in certain states. Because of the sales category code attached to the ship line we are getting error message 0267 - item number invalid.

Does anyone have any clue? Waiting for JDE to call and Vertex was not much help either.
