W2 Output To Diskette File

Last year we ran program P06724 which created a file that we downloaded to
diskette to send the Federal W2 information.
This year the option has disappeared from the menu, and the versions no
longer exist in the program.
The only option left on the menu is the Magnetic Media File creation.
Has anyone else come across this?
If JDE had dropped the option to create a file for sending on diskette, I
thought they would have added the option to create a file for electronic
transmission. I can't see either.

I think the IRS has dropped the diskette reporting as an option. The
IRS now requires what they call the MMREF format, instead of the TIB format
- this is the first year the MMREF format required - had been optional the
two prior years. I would think that if you generate the magnetic media
file, that would be in the proper format, and you could download to a PC and
send that way - but I could be way wrong. It does not surprise me that JDE
did not do an electronic file transmission. I do not think IRS is set up to
do mainframe transmission - just PC or web type stuff. Hope this helps a
bit. Should have someone on the IRS mailing list at your office to keep up
on all these changes, let me add.
