APPL Edit/Browse Portlets

What are the advantages of using an Edit/Browse Portlet as opposed to the Powerform equivalent aside from the ability to embed in an E1 Page (or so I've heard)? In other words, what can I do with a Portlet that I CAN'T do with a Power Browse or Reusable Browse?

The principle value of a portlet to a user is that, compared to launching an application and searching for data manually, a portlet can significantly shorten the number of clicks required to get from the portal to the desired information or transaction.
