Parent Child Form Web Client Question

On the web client (9.0+) is it possible to stop the first row being automatically selected (ticked) on a multiple select enabled parent child form? It is causing a problem when lines are being deleted as sometimes a user forgets to untick the first line when deleting multiple lines. We don't want to remove the multiple select capability from the form.

I don't think I can do it in the code as I can't see a way of programatically unselecting a line on a Parent Child form. It seems to be a function of the middleware.
