Row security question

Hi,

Question to security experts. From what i understand , there is no error message passed on to the application level when a transaction fails on row security. I believe that some enhancements were proposed but Oracle has not acted on them. What has been the best practices to alert users on row security violation / failures?

Thanks in advance,

Unnikrishnan

That is not what we see. Row security simply appends to the SQL WHERE clause and can cause very unexpected results. It is very useful but you need to understand how it will be applied.

Perhaps Oracle has expanded on that since 9.0 (which would be a large change), I'm just referring to what we see right now.

I'm a big fan of the Commit Failed message that makes everyone thing there's a catastrophic database failure myself.
