Differences

Hello All,

Can any one please let me know the difference between Branch plant and Business Unit in terms of JDE?
I know that the Business unit is used as part of the Account number formation.

That means BU's are where the exact business ( Account for ) is done?


Please correct me and forgive me if i am wrong.

A good question. The two terms can be interchangable if you want them to be. I believe there's some modules (is it inventory?!) where they have some unique aspects but for the most part in the implementations I've worked on we've had a single B/P and used the BU to define separate reportable business areas.

business unit represents the sub unit of a company whereas branch plant is
the machinery of a branch or business unit.
