Asset Transfer btw companies with different base currencies

I was testing the asset transfer feature in Xe,via R12108 and hit a limitation which would definitely occur often in production. Has anyone any idea how to deal with asset transfers btw 2 companies which have different base currencies? I did think abt de-activating the asset in company A and re-creating in company B, but then we would lose all the historical data of the asset which originates from company A.

If anyone has a better idea on how to achieve this, pls share. Thanks!
