I've downloaded the 8.10 Standalone, and can't get in!

I\'ve downloaded the 8.10 Standalone, and can\'t get in!

I downloaded the Standalone Workstation evaluation, trial software from edelivery.oracle.com (B17528-01 and B17529-01). It says it is a DEMO and so I assumed that I would need no password. But when I try to open the application a login window appears with the default username 'DEMO' and a password field. DOes anyone know the standard password for this evaluation DEMO?

Password is also "DEMO".
However you can access without any password. Just press OK

then login as DEMO with password DEMO

The password should be 'demo' too. I believe that it's lower case but try it both ways....

Neither DEMO nor demo worked, nor did it work by leaving it empty. Any other suggestions?

Call oracle or your client Manager

Open jde.ini file (you can open it writing "jde.ini" into start>>run)
Add BDSEC='ROBIN' under [DB SYSTEM SETTINGS] section.
Then restart JDE.
It must be fixed.

Thanks for helping me. I think we are close to solving the matter, but I still can't log in.

Also, when the log in window comes up and I press OK, it waits and then a small 3 inch square aplet window titled "Database Password Entry" appears. I don't know if I am supposed to log in to the first or the second or both in regard to the 'DEMO' password.

Here is the jde.ini file. Maybe you can detect where things are going wrong. I have downloaded the Standalone (CD1 - B17528-01 and CD2 B17529-01) onto my standalone Windows XP Professional. I am at home, not on any network. Here is the ini file:

Yeah, it surely would ask you for a password. But there is a work around. Run the jde.ini file from your desktop. To do this, on your desktop click the 'Start' button. Go to 'Run' & enter 'jde.ini' & press 'OK'. In this file search for the line which contains <Default p s would create a blank line below the above stated line. Please type BDSEC ROBIN on this blank line. Save the changes made & exit. Please refresh your desktop & now try to login to your DEMO. It would ask you for pass word. But ignore & press 'OK'. You should be through. NJOY....Regards Salil

Issue here is the SQL server is not running. I understand from 8.10 onwards the database is not in access but in SQL server and this needs to be running or else you will get the database pwd error.

Hi Jim

First of all, if it asks "Database Password Entry", it means there is
something wrong. It shouldn't normally ask that, but should open the
application. I looked out you jde.ini and everything seems fine, so it must
have been working.

Anyway, I'm sending my jde.ini file below. You will see some differences
than yours, don't care about them (e.g I've installed it into the partition
E: etc.)
