E1 HR/Payroll Vs PeopleSoft HR/Payroll WWYD

I need to hire an E1 HR/Payroll functional/Tech, it is hard to find. We received few resumes on the Peoplesoft HR/Payroll modules. Do you think they are different??.. Don't you think they would catch up E1 tables given training??

WWYD??

IWDSE (I Would Do Something Else)...

If you are going to hire PPS HR/PR folks to work on an E1 installation - you
may as well hire SAP to do the work for you... There will be similarities -
BUT REMEMBER - these two wholy-seperate products have never been married;
nor should there be any expectation of similarity.

Hire an Access Developer to work on your E1 - it would be about the same
affect (no, I am not slamming Access).

Maybe you are looking the wrong place for an E1 HR/PR persons (hey, I did
that a year ago)... depending on your location - there might be a whole
bunch of them around (there are three that live in the Atlanta area - and
fly everywhere to work on other HR/PR stuff).

PARIMAL - are you still doing HR/PR stuff?
Cyret - They have several 'senior-level' folks that I would put on HR/PR ...
long before I would put a PPS person into the queue.

My suggestion - hire someone that already knows the mix. Generally speaking
- a PPS consultant will not know the foundation of E1's Gotcha's! Hire the
BEST - Hire within E1. Don't Pay for OTC - especially when it comes to
HR/PR (remember, your check may come from PR, too).

Email me direct ([email protected]) and I can put you in touch with
three firms that recruit for E1 - and know the difference between PPS and E1
when it comes to their practice. A PPS resume is NOT an E1 resume (and too
darn many recruiters do not know the difference - heck, too many CIOs don't
know the difference).

I think it's just a matter of the original poster not being aware that no
one calls E1 a PeopleSoft product any longer. It's back to where it
belongs...long live the JD Edwards name!

Well, probably not...
Peoplesoft is based on PeopleCode tools and Cobol I believe still on the inside. JDE is based on ER code toolset and C functions. Greatly different tools, but same at a 10,000 foot level.
In HR/Payroll, it is not about the tables. The pure data is the same across the board. It is about the functionality of the programs and the functions themselves.
DBAs, PDBAs, workflow, benefits, transmissions, all work quite differently...

All of that aside, anybody here that would "settle" for an analyst responsible for making sure the executives of the company get paid properly, raise your hand...

'nuff said!

Now,I'm confused.. I know the E1 (JD Edwards )tables on HR/Payroll, but not sure if Peoplesoft(note jde) HR/Payroll is similar and the candidate could catch up on functional as well as technical wtih some training.

Well, thanks for the tips though.

JDEPSORAC,

Think of it like MS Word vs WordPerfect - two similar, but very different
'secretary' tools. If you office has standardized on MS Word - would you
hire a secretary that knows only WordPerfect?... Yes, you may - if they are
darn good at what they do and have a STRONG willingness to learn.

You would ask them the following:

- OK, you are a WP Editor - why do you want to learn Word?
- What Will Learning Word do for you in the future?
- What compensates 'me' for your learning curve and OTJ training?
- What Word Resources do you have to fall back on?

Now - replace Word with JDE and WP with PPS... It's still a start...
