Next Number 00/4 (EDI Batch Num) overflow

After 3 years of using JDE we have a situation in PD: overflow of Next Number 00/4 (EDI Batch Num). At present this problem is shown in impossibility to add shipments in a transport party (load) in P4960.

We where advised to archives the data from EDI tables and then assign Next Number to “1”, Is it standard procedure?

I think you need to post more details. i am not sure how the load shipment is affected due to EDI batch unless you are creating a sales order thru EDI and then completing whole cycle thru batch??.
Cleaning tables periodically is always recommended as it also enhance the performance.
