ODBC iSeries Access for Windows & JDE

We have a Fat Client that iSeries Access got all jazzed up and you can no longer remove or add configurations. Before I uninstall & reinstall iSeries Access I want to understand how JDE populates ODBC. (first do no harm!!!) Probably a rooky question but hey it is what it is. Thanks for filling in the BIG gaps in my brain...

Hello, Darrell-- I know that it reads the data source configuration file at

\\yourdeploymentserver\b733x\Client\ODBCDataSource.inf

but I've not yet figured out how setup.exe actually creates the connections contained therein. There must be a way to re-run setup.exe with flags to have it only recreate the connections.

Hope that helps.

JDE just populates the registry 'somehow' with the setup.exe file and reading the file Tim mentioned. You can actually create them yourself and do an registry import. We've done this. You should be able to uninstall iSeries access leaving your ODBC entries in there and then reinstall iSeries Access.
