Item used as both Stock and Non-Stock

Hi all,

I am a JDE novice. Is there a posibility in JDE ExnterpriseOne (we use ERP 8) to define an item as both stock and non-stock. We have a situation were we stock some items as spare parts in the inventory but at the same time order the same items for the execution of a project under a blanket order as a non stock item.
Also some times the need arises to draw items from a blanket order (non-stock) to be stored at the store as spare parts to cover for late deliveries and having to issue to running projects from the store on loan and replacing later on.

Hi There!

Yes, you can use items s stock or non-stock. It is all down to the line type you use on your sales orders. Your normal stock line type is "S" and the default line type for item is stored in item/branch. you can override the line type at order entry to, say, "N" for non-stock lines. It is also possible to enter an override line type in processing options of P4210 so you could use a spcecific version of P4210 to enter non-stock orders.

have a look at the line type constants to see what options you have. If you want to use your products as both stock and non-stock, you probably want to check the "edit item maste for non-stock lines" in the line type constants for line type "N" to ensure the default values fom the product are copied to your order line (such as category codes etc.)

One word of avice. you probably do not want Inventory to be affected when you run sales update for non-stock lines so you may want to use different order type for non-stock order to avoid posting to your inventory accounts when sales updating. (Or possibly used flex accounting)

Use a different procurement method - Services/Expenditure based procurement..& line type 'J'
