Free Goods

When a customer buys item A he has an option to get either item B or item C free. I can set up Advanced Pricing so that when he buys A he automatically gets B free. Is there a way to select which item must be added, as free goods, during sales order entry.

Off the top of my head, how about if the free good is a kit, with Item B and
C as optional components?

On E1 8.9 and higher you can use the Free Goods Catalog to pop a window of
allowed free goods.

Vanzylik,

You do not mention the release you are on.

The details below are from the Oracle paper 'Upgrade Value Proposition
for JD Edwards OneWorld Xe to EnterpriseOne 8.11 SP1'.

It would appear the functionality you are seeking is available from
version 8.9 onwards.

Regards,

Adrian

Free Goods Catalog (8.9)

Free goods are frequently used in competitive industries such as
consumer-packaged goods, to drive orders of a specific product. An
example would be offering a free case of wine B to a customer that
purchases ten case of wine A. Obviously, customers that already have a
big stock of wine B will hardly be motivated by this offer. However, if
the company could offer customers a choice of three or four wines that
can be taken for the free good, the offer may be more enticing to the
customer.

The free goods catalogue enhancement enables an organization to set up
any number of free goods for the customer to choose from. During order
entry, the system recognizes when an order or order line qualifies for a
free good involving a catalogue of choices. The order entry person is
notified and can review the choices with the customer. In automated
order situations where there is no interaction, (such as EDI orders or
store-and-forward orders) the free good that the organization sets up as
the default will be selected by the system.

Remember that free goods don't actually have to be "free." They could be
offered at a reduced price. For example, a deal could be defined as
follows: Buy ten cases of wine A, and receive a case of either wine B or
C for just $10. Note the price for each catalogue option needs to be the
same, and the give-away cannot be split such as a half case of B and a
half case of C. There can only be one item on a free good line.

As he's posting into the JD Edwards World topic one would hope he's on some release or other of JD Edwards World.
