Changing my title - What\'s yours?

I perform CNC work about 1/8 of my working time and no one outside of the JDE community knows what CNC stands for. My boss agreed to change the title, but wants an industry standard title. I like Business Systems Administrator. Is anyone else changing from the CNC Administrator title? What is your new title?

Re: Changing my title - What\'s yours?

Hi Jean,

I prefer "CBO" : Chief Bug Officer. ;-)
I spend a lot of time managing bugs, memory leaks, faulty Tools, crashing Apps, etc...

I use JDE System Administrator (CNC) / North America as my title. At
some point I'll have to add in Western Europe to that as well......

Jean

I'm the EnterpriseOne Systems Administrator & CNC Technical Specialist. I also agree that anyone outside of JDE doesn't know what CNC means. In correspondense outside the JDE community I drop the second part of the title.

Re: Changing my title - What\'s yours?

Jean,

let's see - I'm not a CNC, but I've had to endure many titles... I am a developer type....

Programmer/Analyst, Hey You, Con-slut-ant
cool.gif
, DuUuuDe?, @$#!@#%, &^$%$@$, gawd, answer-man-dan, Mr. Fixit, code-breaker, ... and a whole bunch of other names that fall into the category of '...other titles assigned as needed', clause.

The bene to being on the developer track - we usually don't get pidgeoned into a territorial name (JDE developer, E1 Analyst, XE Programmer)...

My ramblings for today...

Re: Changing my title - What\'s yours?

Hi Jean,

I had the same task of changing my title once my role switched to 100% CNC tasks. I used to be mostly a network admin. I looked through this site to see what others had and I wanted to keep the CNC out and the reference to JDE/OneWorld out of the name. This was before the JDE/PSFT/ORACLE mergers . I ended up with ERP Systems Administrator. It kinda widens the range a bit but anyone outside of the ERP stuff may not know what ERP means. Then I just just tell people I'm a Systems Administrator and then I explain that I look after the business systems that run our company.

But depending on what you would rather see...I wanted something different than Administrator like analyst, architect or engineer but those didn't fly.

Good luck and let us know what you picked (or have picked for you).

Kevin

Kevin, I know what you mean. Even my wife doesn't have a clue what it is that I do. I like to use the Wizard of Oz analogy. I ask the person if they remember the scene in the movie where Toto tugs on the curtain to reveil the guy spinning the knobs and dials while this big floating head yammers and fire belches and a grand voice exclaims - "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!!!" JDE is the big floating head, and we CNCs are the guys furiously spinning the knobs to keep it working.....
