I am installing an 8.11 instance to an iSeries server that also houses several existing OneWorld Xe/World installs in production.

As you are probably aware, the installation procedure for 8.11 is different from previous releases. On the iSeries, it users a Java shell program to run the install process. There is very limited logging done on this process and even fewer details.

One of the things you should be aware of when installing this to a server that contains an existing installs utilizing the JDE user is that the Java shell runs a GRTOBJAUT to grant the same authorities to the PSFT user that the JDE user has. In our case, we had 650,000 objects that it tried to obtain an exlusive lock on, which brought down all of our environments, including several production systems.

Another thing to be aware of is that the install process makes a change the PATH environment variable for the OS. Use WRKENVVAR LEVEL(*SYS) to find this. The PATH variable should be set to '/usr/bin:' but gets changed. This can cause other software packages to fail when processing. See solution #200970198 on the customer connection for more details.

FYI.
