Problem in New User Creation

Hi,

I am on E810 right now. I am trying to create a new user from P0092 by just copying one of the users. When I try logging in, I get an error asking for System-810 password and then it doesn't connect me to that environment. I have added all the environments for that user. Is there something else that I am missing for the new user?

I believe that even if you do a copy in P0092, you would still need to create the security record for that user. Which used to be done in P98OWSEC.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong.

That is correct. You will also have to assign a ROLE to the user.

I did that with a default record in P98owsec already in there. But I keep getting the role-environment pair is invalid error.

An environment can also be applied to a Role. I am not sure how the User and
Role environment overrides work. Try set the environment for the ROLE only
and remove all environements assigned to the user or set the same
environments for both the user and role. If you are using the java client
make sure you have the J environments included...I.E.. JPD9.

If you upgraded from XE then you may have to drop the roles and recreate them. Recreate one role first and test it.

Roles are created within P95921. Make sure that the user has a role associated with them.

Also, did you run the table conversion at the end of the upgrade to bring over you existing roles etc...?

Are you apply evironment to this user?

i have created roles and associated enviorments with the users but i still get the same error. My table conversion wasnt complete. Is that the reason behind the problem?

More than likely. You should consult with PS support to make sure, but I believe that you can run this again if needed. Make sure you have good backups prior to running the conversion.

Out of interest, if you create a new user totally from scratch does it work ?
