I've found similar problems, for which I've done a workaround which is to
use a formula to multiply the rate per pound by the extended weight and
divide by the quantity. It works!
My example was a bicycle which weighed 40 pounds, and was sold in eaches.
Freight was $1.00 per pound. It found the $1.00 but failed to multiply by
the 40 pounds. Using the formula described above made everything work.
