Hi List,

What are the advantages and limitation of a citrix server with respect to jde. can one do development remotely connecting useing citrix server.

thank you

Sunny

Believe me, the Terminal Server (with or without Citrix) is the way to go.

As for doing remote development - there is a way, either a non-JDE liked (but working) way through a configuration file change - OR through other ways....I'd love to share offline !

As for advantages over web - well, 98% of customers that are live and are successful are running OneWorld on Citrix. Try going back through the list and look for the surveys....

Course the web is going to be a great product - but you want to really be the first to implement it live ?

Hi Sunny...

Terminal Server is "free" it comes with W2000, Citirx is a licensed software. I like TS because it makes easy OW clients administration, only one machine administration... About development on Citrix or TS... it's possible, but i dont recommend you.... at TS<or Citrix you only have ONE set of specs... if you damage them... all your users lose the specs...

With TS or Citrix you can run JDE on small computers....

There ara a lot of advantages and some disadvantage...

I hope this help you...

W2000 + SQL2000 + Citrix, TS Too
OW XE SP20 Update 4

Actually TS is not free at all, if you want to connect Win9x machines to it
you'll need a separate license for each of them.

XE SP 19.1 Update 5 Win2000 and MSSQL 7

It is for "Administrative Purposes" - one user at a time who is an
administrator on the local machine.

It is a different installation option, as opposed to installing it as an
"Application Server"...

There is a 'work-around' that allows you to develop remotely on Citrix with multiple copies of the specs without to much hassle at all.

Yes...development can be set up on a Citrix server...unsupported, but can
and does work well. Lot of administrative overhead though.
