Media Object Update

Hi list,

I have a quick question concerning media objects. I have a media object (i.e., Word document residing on a network drive) attached to record. When the document is updated by another person (the Word document on the network drive) should those changes be reflected when I open up the Media Object in OneWorld?

Thanks.

Pon,

assuming you did this as an OLE attachment, the answer to your question depends on whether or not you checked the "Link" checkbox when you created the attachment. If you did NOT check "Link" then the document was copied to an object file under the MediaObjects/OleQue directory (most likely on your deployment server) in which changes to the original will NOT be reflected in the copy.

Thanks for your input Larry. No, I didn't create it as a link and therefore my media object didn't show the modification. If I understand it correctly OW either "Links" to the document (residing elsewhere) or, makes a copy of the object and stores in in OW. Is this correct?
