Upgrade question

Can someone explain to me what the difference is between choosing to merge objects in the F9861 and retrofitting after the upgrade? Do you decide to always merge and just retrofit what has gone wrong or do you only merge certain objects and retrofit the rest? Kind of confused...

My advice : merge custom objects (55), retrofit the rest.

When you merge a custom object (55) and let's say the business view has changed will the merge take care of that. Let say the key to a table's primary index has changed in you have a custom object which uses that what will happen to the even rules in the custom objecj? Is there documentation on exactly what a merge will handle?
