Acrobat and Terminal Server

We are dropping JAS on our current 73.3.1 environment when we upgrade to Xe next month in favor of Terminal Servers. During testing we have encountered problems using Acrobat on the terminal servers, many of which have been discussed here. I want to get an idea what some of you do as workarounds.

1. Printing: We get garbage on some printers when printing from Acrobat via TS. I've seen the workaround to choose 'Print as Image'. Has anyone done anything different?
2. Saving files: Acrobat Reader does not provide an option to save files. How have you provided a way for your thin clients to get an electronic copy of the PDF? I've ruled out sharing the PrintQueue because of the security risks, not to mention that some users aren't on our network; they're accessing OW via NFuse. One thing we're trying: I noticed that the Acrobat plug-in for Internet Explorer provides 'Save As' functionality in place of 'File Open'. So we changed the global file association on our TS to use Internet Explorer for .PDF files. Now clicking the 'View PDF' row exit within OW launches Internet Explorer, and users can save their PDFs locally (we allow mapping of clients drives on the TS.) Any thoughts??

Hi J!

1. I did have some laser printers (Lexmark and Fujitsu) on TSE. Try editing
the WTS*.INF files,
a couple of them provide printer mappings and equivalences. For example, you
may say that
your "Lexmark Optra 1650N" equals a "HP Laserjet 4". I don't remember the
exact name of that
file, it was something like WTSPRNNT.INF or similar.
2. Map your PrintQueue to a specific shared drive on the network.
OutputDirectory=Q:\PRINTQUEUE
on the WTS JDE.INI file.

Yours,Sebastian Sajaroff

Sebastian
You took the words right out of my mouth (on number 2 that is). But that got me thinking. Does NFuse map the users local drive to the TSE the same way that the Citrix client software does? If so could you set your output to the local PC's mapped drive? That way the users that login from the outside network can have all their PDF files downloaded to their PC's? We don't use NFuse so I was just curious if this would work. (Thinking about the future)
