VMWare and JDE?

I am considering a test with VMWare - allowing my machine to run several LPARs of environments - on one machine.

Anyone else doing this?

Any recommendations?

That'll be an interesting test! Considering that OW has large resource requirements, I'd imagine that your host machine would have to be pretty beefy.

VMWare requires you to predefine the amount of RAM that each virtual machine has. And since VMWare 'steals' that heap space from the host machine, running more than one VM at once can really be taxing on the host. So, if you wanted to have three VM's running, I'd suggest having a Gig and a half of RAM in the host (384MB for the host, and 384 for each VM).

Let us know how it goes!

I will try this in July.
I'll tell you the result...

We are planning to install JDE 9.2 on new machines. Where can we locate documentation containing machine sizing recommendation(i.e., RAM, STORAGE required per user)?

NX - are you planning on putting the entire ecosystem on VM(s)?

Seeing the date of your post, and your location - Here's to hoping all is well.... Looking forward to hearing about your JDE Adventures!

hello db. yes. we are planning to put everything on VM, except for the SQL database.
