Kieran,

The FASTR conversion tool is used to convert World
FASTR (Financial Analysis Spreadsheet Tool for
Reporting) reports into UBE's. JDE owns the keys to
the tool and only designated JDE staff have the codes
to use the tool. That being said, the tool is
effective in correctly converting 90% of the column,
row and cell information in the reports. Some editing
is necessary to ensure similar results (FASTR to UBE).
The cost of using the tool is about $30,000 (10 days
JDE consulting).

Hi Mike,

Did you actually use this tool in practice? If so, could you provide further detail, relating to the following:
1. How many FASTRs did you end up converting with the Tool.
2. Avg. time to convert a FASTR
3. What kinds of "editing" were required afterwards.
4. Rough ballpark, how many FASTRs would you estimate would make use of this Tool cost-beneficial. What's the break-even point.

Thanks a lot for your help

We worked with JDE and a client to debug and test the tool. JDE owns the tool and does all the conversion work themselves. The tool does a fantastic job converting column ad row reports. The only real hangups were some special cell calculations and a few row problems. At the client, over 500 fasters were converted with an 80+ % accuracy rate. It tool about two weeks to complete the conversion work and promote the objects to production. If I remember right, the actual convers was done overnight. The rest of the time was proofing reports for accuracy (as well as correcting the errors). JDE should have more recent information as we did this in May/June of last year.

This sounds very handy - could you let me know where/if I can read more about it.

Thanks in advance

Yes this tool is not provided to the customers by JDE. You have to bring in JDE consultants to do this. Another option is to look for Off shore development of these reports. There are documents on the KG which expalins the conversion tool and also the time taken for conversion. To be sure, there is manual intervention involved in almost every report.

Malcolm, as well as the document I sent if you search on FASTR under Product in Knowledge Garden.

We used the tool.

You need to be at least on SP 20. There is a problem with overlapping rows in pdf. See SAR 6397408 Overlapping Rows on .pdf System.

The tool does not do conditional variance. We had to do it manually.

We went into every report and corrected it. Most of the time, it was minor things that needed to be corrected like spacing and deleting '+' from literal field in the data selection.
