jdenet kernel

<font style="font-family:'Arial';font-size:10pt;Dear List,

are having problems with our Enterprise Server jdenet kernels. The memory usage
of the kernels keeps increasing until the server is at a crawl. We then have to
terminate the kernels processes or reboot the server. After that things seem to
be working fine until the memory usage starts to build up again. Has anyone
seen this before? We usually reboot the Enterprise Server once a week but
lately we have to reboot it at least twice a week. We haven't done any changes
to the server (the only thing I can think of is we started to use SQL data
replication). Does anyone encounter any problems using SQL data replication?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Do you have Disk compression activated on the Enterprise Server?

No, the disk compression is not activated.

Are you using W environments with BSFNs mapped to the Enterprise Server?

Just how much memory are the kernel processes using?

<font style="font-family:'Arial';font-size:10pt;No, we are not using W
environments with BSFN mapped to the E.S. The kernel processes start with
11,000K after we reboot the server. I've seen them grow to 150,000K.

Re: re[2]: jdenet kernel

I know this doesn't answer your question but I have seen the processes take up the amount of memory you are talking about. It didn't become an issue because we had SQL Server running on the other node in the cluster and the box had 3G of memory.

I suspect that it is because of the processes not releasing memory like they should but that is a question for the code geeks.

Have you considered *not* using the W environments?

my post in the Forum. This Goldmine email is weird. I wrote:

Somehow the beginning of the sentence was truncated. As a result you see only
"environments with BSFN mapped to the E.S.

By default, BSFN run on local machines, right? We do not map any BSFN to the
