ERP-8 Upgrade

We are currently in the planning stages for an XE to ERP-8 upgrade for a Win2000 Oracle platform and have a few questions.

1. Is there anyway to create a test ERP8 environment(s) using our existing deployment server while keeping production environments intact? Or will we need an additional deployment server (One for Xe and one for Erp8)?

2. If we need an additional deployment server, could we use a power PC? If so, what PC specs would you recommend? (i.e.: P4 2 ghrtz, 1gig RAM, 40 gig HD)

1. In Oracle you will need to create new tablespaces for central objects, system tables, dd, etc. You can upgrade your business data in place, though.

2. For the deployment server, use Snapshot. It works very well, and enables you to run the two releases on the same deployment server.
